On February 16, 2024, the Arts & Entertainment Club hosted their much anticipated coffeehouse, featuring a multitude of performances that ranged from poetry readings, singing, dancing, and instrumentals. As per usual, art by the student body was put on display. Maeve Callinan’s replica gloves based off of Edward Scissorhands were especially charming in their creativity. The pleasant ambience of the event should be attributed to the talented artists who had the confidence and passion to step onto the stage and grace us with their performances. A guitar solo by Albert Zhang, a fervent poetry reading by Eric Morshed, and a captivating dance performance by Ezra Reznick are just a few of the acts that excelled at both engaging and entertaining viewers. Audience members were especially blown away by Siddhi Omesh and Chloe Jeon’s rendition of “Lovely” by Billie Eilish, flawlessly expressed through the use of the violin and piano. Save for the divine instrumental that resonated from the instruments, the entire room entered complete silence in awe of the performance. For those few minutes, everything seemed still and calm. Such is the beauty of artists and their capacity to express themselves and connect with others while doing so. Those willing to share their skillset with an audience should be commended for doing so. For this reason, even if you aren’t one to delve into the field of arts, I highly recommend attending the A&E’s next coffeehouse in June. There is always something to appreciate and enjoy whether you attend as a performer or viewer.
