On the Halloween Costume Contest judging table were three of Biotech’s most beloved staff members: the master of Geometry and Algebra 2, Mr. Shafaie, the mitochondria of the school, Mrs. Silver, and one of the Biotech originals, Mr. Hercek.

// The Founding Fathers, winners of “Funniest Costume,” pose for a picture.

Starting off strong, with the best partner or group costume, was Thing One and Thing Two, starring Khushi Patel and Khushi Patel with a guest appearance from Mr. Levinson as the Cat in the Hat. “It’s fun to have fun but you have to know how,” and Thing One and Thing Two definitely know how to start a party. Next were the winners of the group category: “Alice in Wonderland,” with Annika Raj, Gurbaani Kakkar, Priyasha Sinha, Maya Oommen, Lyra Seligman, and Yukti Kanda. I’d like to tell you more about their costume, but let’s not go down that rabbit hole. Then came Daniel Fiskin and Prithvi Parachuri dressed as Fortnite, all night, just for show! What beautiful rhyming!

Following the original dance skills of Daniel and Prithvi was the category of funniest costume, which began with the “Founding Fathers” with Julia Advento, Zeina Samra, Stella Saad, Sydney Cashman, Hannah Perlman and Abby Thaler. According to an anonymous source, the Founding Fathers were said to have gone to Mr. Arpa’s room before the contest and sung the national anthem. Next to writing their names down in the Constitution is their prized trophy for funniest costume. Following them was Aarhan Chakraborty as the “Chillest Krusty Crab Worker.” The Krusty Krab’s motto is "We shall never deny a guest, even the most ridiculous request,” and what’s truly ridiculous were the costumes for Most Creative!

First up, Anya Bhandare showed off her costume cosplaying The Weeknd. She really was a “Stargirl.” Appearing next was Emily Gercheck and her award-winning costume of Barriss Offee from Star Wars. Mrs. McGowan concluded the category with her outstanding homemade costume of Tippi Hendren from one of her favorite horror movies titled “The Birds”. What was that in her hair besides a nest of birds? A second winner for the category of most creative costume!

Boo! Did I scare you? Well, if I didn’t, this one and only outfit for the category of scariest costume will surely give you the chills. Where’s Waldo? No worries, it's just freshman David Seetoo.

After a long 30 minutes of judging, the costume contest reached an end. Congratulations to all the winners and the amazing performances and effort put into each and every contestant’s costume!
